How to Reach Borgo Castelvecchi
We can’t wait to welcome you to Borgo Castelvecchi, and to make your journey as smooth as possible, here’s everything you need to know about getting here.
Step 1: Arriving in Italy
For those traveling from international destinations, the easiest way to reach Italy is by flying into one of these three major airports:
✈️ Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Ideal for those who want to explore northern Italy before heading to Tuscany.
✈️ Bergamo Orio Al Serio (BGY) – Close to Milano and connected with it through buses, is another good choice if you want to fly to northern Italy.
✈️ Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – A great option for those flying in from overseas and looking for a direct connection to Florence. There is a train connecting the airport with Rome Central train station where you can find a high speed train to Florence
✈️ Pisa International Airport (PSA) – The closest major airport to Tuscany, with several direct flights from European cities.
People arriving from Switzerland or France may also opt to get to Milano by train
Step 2: Choosing Your Mode of Travel
Once you land, you’ll need to decide whether you prefer to travel by train or car.
🚄 By Train:
Italy’s train system is efficient and well-connected. From Milan, Rome, or Pisa, you can reach Florence in a maximum of 2 hours once you arrive at the train station.
- From Milan Centrale – 1h 55m on a high-speed train
- From Rome Termini – 1h 30m on a high-speed train
- From Pisa Centrale – 1h direct regional train
There are two companies that run high-speed train, Trenitalia and Italo. Test your luck with both of those to see which one has the availability and lowest price for the day you travel.
🚗 By Car:
If you’d love to explore Italy at your own pace, renting a car is a fantastic option! You can rent a car from major companies like Europcar or Hertz at any airport.
🚨 Important: Be sure to check if you need an International Driving Permit (IDP) before arriving in Italy!
Step 3: Getting to Borgo Castelvecchi
Once you’ve made it to Florence, getting to Borgo Castelvecchi requires a bit more planning, as transportation options are more limited.
- If you have a rental car, the drive to Borgo Castelvecchi is scenic and straightforward. The journey takes about 1 hour through beautiful Tuscan landscapes.
- If you don’t have a car, don’t worry! Just let us know in advance, and we will arrange transportation for you to ensure you arrive at the Borgo smoothly.
- If you still want to proceed on your own, you will need to get to Siena. The two options are either a bus or a train. Both options can be catch from Florence central train station. Once you arrive in Siena you will need to get on bus 125 and stop at Radda in Chianti. From Radda in Chianti we will organize your transport to Borgo Castelvecchi. We do not suggest this as is a very time consuming way of travelling, just tell us and we will try to organize you a trip to Borgo Castelvecchi.
We are here to help, so if you have any questions about your travel plans, feel free to reach out!
